To save session notes to a knowledge management vault, you can trigger note capture by saying "remember this." The system locates the vault via memento.yml or default paths, checks for duplicates, and creates structured atomic notes to preserve your decisions and discoveries.
Atomic notes in context preservation are individual, self-contained records of a single decision or discovery. The memento vault uses this Zettelkasten method to capture session insights, linking related notes and organizing findings for future retrieval.
You do not need a mandatory configuration file to use memento for session notes. The system locates the vault via a memento.yml file if it exists, or automatically falls back to default paths to store your captured session context.
During decision capture, the system searches existing vault notes to avoid duplicates. This ensures that when you save a session, it checks for matching context before creating new properly structured notes.
