SYSTEM DOCUMENTATION & REQUIREMENTS

What problem does it solve?

Synthesize unconsolidated episodes into topics (shared tags, 3+ episodes) and procedures (repeated multi-step processes), then shrink MEMORY.md below its 200-line hard limit. Runs at session-close and when episode/line thresholds are crossed.

Core Features & Use Cases

Cluster unconsolidated episodes by tag overlap, source skill, and temporal proximity to surface coherent topics and procedures.
Create memory topics under memory/topics/{topic-slug}.md and memory procedures under memory/procedures/{procedure-slug}.md using the standardized formats.
Update MEMORY.md index, mark source episodes as consolidated, and trigger memory-forget if the MEMORY.md size remains above the limit.

Quick Start

Consolidate unconsolidated episodes into topics and procedures and shrink MEMORY.md when limits are reached.

Frequently Asked Questions about memory-consolidate

High-intent search queries and answers about installing and using this skill.

FAQPage Schema

How do I consolidate unconsolidated memory episodes into topics and procedures?▼

To consolidate unconsolidated memory episodes, this Skill clusters them by tag overlap, source skill, and temporal proximity to create standardized memory topics and procedures, updating the index automatically.

When should I automate memory consolidation for my research notes?▼

Automate memory consolidation when your MEMORY.md file exceeds 180 lines and contains 15 or more unconsolidated episodes with 3 or more episodes sharing a primary tag.

How does memory consolidation handle exceeding the MEMORY.md line limit?▼

Memory consolidation updates the MEMORY.md index and marks source episodes as consolidated, triggering memory-forget to shrink the file if it remains above the 200-line hard limit.

What is the difference between memory topics and procedures in memory management?▼

Memory topics group unconsolidated episodes sharing tags, while procedures capture repeated multi-step processes, with both saved as standardized markdown files under their respective memory directories.

Can I trigger memory consolidation automatically at session-close?▼

Yes, memory consolidation runs at session-close and whenever episode or line thresholds are crossed, automatically synthesizing unconsolidated episodes into structured topics and procedures.

What are the limitations of automated memory consolidation?▼

Automated memory consolidation requires strict thresholds to trigger, specifically 15+ unconsolidated episodes and a MEMORY.md file exceeding 180 lines, and may trigger memory-forget to enforce limits.
