What problem does it solve?

This Skill helps decide the optimal 6R modernization pattern (Rehost/Replatform/Refactor/Repurchase/Retire/Retain) for a workload, based on a decision tree and cost/time/risk matrix.

Core Features & Use Cases

Decision Tree: Assesses the best modernization pattern using a decision tree.
Cost/Time/Risk Matrix: Evaluates the cost, time, and risk of each modernization pattern.
Use Case: After a workload assessment, use this Skill to determine the most suitable modernization strategy for a workload.

Quick Start

To decide the modernization pattern for a workload, run the skill with the assessment report path and constraints: modernization-strategy /path/to/assessment-report.md budget risk-tolerance.

FAQPage Schema

How do I decide the best 6R modernization pattern for my workload?▼

To decide the best 6R modernization pattern, you can use a decision tree and matrix to evaluate cost, time, and risk factors for each option. This approach automates choosing between Rehost, Replatform, Refactor, Repurchase, Retire, or Retain.

What is the 6R modernization decision tree and how does it work?▼

The 6R modernization decision tree is a framework that assesses workload characteristics against cost, time, and risk constraints. It systematically routes your IT modernization project to the most suitable pattern among Rehost, Replatform, Refactor, Repurchase, Retire, or Retain.

Can I use an assessment report to choose a modernization strategy?▼

You can determine your modernization strategy by running an analysis with your workload assessment report path, budget, and risk tolerance. This process uses your existing assessment data to automate the 6R pattern selection.

How does AWS pricing factor into IT modernization risk assessment?▼

AWS pricing integration provides accurate cost data for your modernization risk assessment. By combining real-time pricing with your workload constraints, the analysis ensures your chosen 6R pattern aligns with your budget and IT strategy requirements.

What are the limitations of using a decision tree for cloud modernization?▼

The decision tree limits its modernization analysis to the 6R patterns and relies on the accuracy of your workload assessment report. It requires clear budget and risk tolerance parameters to effectively evaluate cost, time, and risk factors.
