SYSTEM DOCUMENTATION & REQUIREMENTS

💡 This Skill includes references (resource) components.

What problem does it solve?

This Skill streamlines the implementation and debugging of all network requests, API calls, and data fetching operations within a React Native application.

Core Features & Use Cases

API Integration: Implement and manage RESTful API requests using fetch or libraries like React Query.
Data Fetching: Set up robust data fetching strategies with caching, offline support, and error handling.
Expo Router Integration: Utilize useLoaderData for route-level data loading on the web.
Use Case: When building a feature that displays user profiles fetched from a backend API, use this Skill to implement the fetch call, manage loading and error states with React Query, and ensure data is cached for a better user experience.

Quick Start

Use the native-data-fetching skill to fetch user data from the API endpoint '/users/:userId'.

Frequently Asked Questions about native-data-fetching

FAQPage Schema

How do I handle API calls and data fetching in React Native?▼

API calls and data fetching in React Native can be implemented using the fetch API or libraries like React Query, enabling robust network request management, caching, and error handling.

What's the best way to manage loading and error states for RESTful API requests?▼

Managing loading and error states for RESTful API requests is best handled using TanStack Query, which provides built-in state management, caching, and offline support for network operations.

Can I use Expo Router data loaders for route-level data loading?▼

Yes, you can use Expo Router data loaders by utilizing the useLoaderData hook to implement route-level data loading on the web within your React Native application.

How does caching work with React Query in a React Native app?▼

Caching with React Query works by storing fetched API data locally, which ensures data persistence, improves user experience, and provides offline support during network requests.

Do I need to configure environment variables for API endpoints in React Native?▼

Yes, you need to configure environment variables for API endpoints to securely manage authentication token handling and route network requests to the correct backend API.
