What problem does it solve?
This Skill helps you systematically challenge a tentative qualitative proposition by finding and classifying negative cases that threaten its validity, so you can refine boundaries and improve theoretical precision.
Core Features & Use Cases
- Proposition-aware negative case analysis: parses the proposition’s condition range, underlying mechanism, and falsifiable threats before searching for disconfirming evidence.
- Four-type diagnosis with tailored revision advice: separates negative cases into genuine disconfirming cases, boundary/limit cases, dimensional variation, and insufficient data, each with concrete refinement directions.
- Supports theory sampling workflow: uses the researcher’s stage (early/mid/late) to prioritize what kind of negative cases to look for and how to act on them.
- Use case: when you suspect your claim may not generalize, provide your proposition plus supporting excerpts and let the Skill identify what kind of challenge it represents and how to revise the claim.
Quick Start
Provide your one-sentence tentative proposition and the key supporting materials (coding list, excerpts, or memo) and ask the assistant to run a negative case analysis for “反例/不符合的情况/检验命题是否成立”.
