FAQPage Schema

How do I set up a site-to-site VPN using NetBird?▼

To set up a site-to-site VPN with NetBird, you configure network routes and designate routing peers to connect different office networks or cloud VPCs. This allows devices in separate locations to communicate as if on the same LAN.

How do I configure DNS nameservers for internal hostname resolution in NetBird?▼

Configuring DNS nameservers in NetBird involves setting up custom nameservers, match domains, and search domains. This manages internal DNS resolution so peers can correctly resolve internal hostnames across the network.

What is subnet routing in NetBird and when do I need it?▼

Subnet routing in NetBird routes traffic to entire IP ranges or domain-based resources through designated peers. You need it to facilitate access to subnets or local area networks via the NetBird network without installing the client on every device.

Can I use NetBird to connect a home office network to a main office LAN?▼

Yes, you can use NetBird to connect a home office network to a company's main office network. By configuring site-to-site connectivity and subnet routing, devices in both locations can communicate seamlessly as if they were on the same LAN.

Does NetBird routing support high availability and masquerading?▼

Yes, NetBird routing supports high availability and masquerading. These features ensure reliable network traffic routing and handle IP address translation for routing peers, facilitating robust access to subnets.

Why is internal DNS resolution not working for my NetBird peers?▼

Internal DNS resolution issues often arise from incorrect match domains or search domains configurations. You must properly configure your custom DNS nameservers in NetBird to ensure peers can successfully resolve internal hostnames.
