FAQPage Schema

How do I structure a scalable Next.js App Router architecture?▼

Structure scalable Next.js App Router architectures by implementing nested layouts, route groups, parallel routes, and intercepted routes. This enforces best-practice conventions using layout.tsx, loading.tsx, error.tsx, and not-found.tsx for robust page rendering.

What is the difference between parallel routes and intercepted routes in Next.js?▼

Parallel routes render multiple independent pages simultaneously within a single layout, while intercepted routes intercept navigation paths to display content like modals without losing the original route context in Next.js.

How do I refactor a large Next.js application to use the App Router?▼

Refactor large Next.js apps to adopt the App Router by enforcing layout.tsx persistence and implementing loading, error, and not-found routes. This ensures proper error handling without breaking existing pages during the migration.

When should I use a route group versus a nested layout in Next.js?▼

Use Next.js route groups to logically organize routes without affecting the URL structure, while nested layouts persist UI components via layout.tsx across route changes, maintaining persistent headers or sidebars.

Can I implement proper error handling with loading and error routes in the Next.js App Router?▼

Yes, implement proper error handling in the Next.js App Router by using loading.tsx for fallback UI, error.tsx to catch errors, and not-found.tsx for missing pages. This conforms to App Router conventions and ensures layout persistence.
