Frequently Asked Questions about observability-designer

High-intent search queries and answers about installing and using this skill.

FAQPage Schema

How do I design SLI and SLO frameworks for microservices?▼

Designing SLI and SLO frameworks for microservices involves translating system behavior into reliable indicators. This Skill codifies SLI/SLO/SLA frameworks, burn-rate alerts, and dashboard principles to align metrics, logs, and traces with business goals.

What is the best way to set up burn rate alerts for incident prevention?▼

Setting up burn rate alerts for incident prevention requires codifying error budget consumption against defined SLOs. This Skill generates observability blueprints and runbooks that configure burn-rate alerts to support incident prevention and capacity planning.

Does this observability designer work with Python for dashboard generation?▼

Yes, this observability designer works with Python by providing Python-based tooling for SLO design, alert optimization, and dashboard generation. It leverages dependencies like pypdf, pdfplumber, and pdf2image to process references and generate dashboards.

Can I generate runbooks for production system incident response?▼

You can generate runnable observability blueprints and runbooks to guide incident response across services. By describing your service, the Skill outputs runbooks that align dashboards and alerts with capacity planning and incident prevention goals.

When do I need an observability strategy for production systems?▼

You need an observability strategy for production systems when turning complex system behavior into actionable insights is essential. It is applied across engineering teams building services and microservices to improve reliability and efficiency.

What are the limitations of using Python-based tooling for SLO design?▼

Limitations of using Python-based tooling for SLO design include dependencies on pypdf, pdfplumber, and pdf2image for processing reference materials. The tooling generates blueprints and dashboards but requires applied engineering teams to implement them across microservices.
