SYSTEM DOCUMENTATION & REQUIREMENTS

💡 This Skill requires pypdf, and includes scripts (resource) and references (resource) and assets (resource) components.

What problem does it solve?

This Skill helps researchers resolve exact paper sources from various inputs (arXiv/DOI PDFs/titles) and convert them into stable, reusable judgments with connected literature notes.

Core Features & Use Cases

Resolve sources: identify exact papers from arXiv, DOI URLs, PDFs, or pasted titles.
Normalize inputs: generate consistent paper objects and metadata before analysis.
Deep reading & synthesis: summarize, critique, compare methods, build related-work notes, and identify gaps.
Output generation: save reusable local Markdown paper cards, literature matrices, and research notes for planning follow-up experiments.

Quick Start

Normalize the input paper source (URL/DOI/arXiv/title) and generate a reusable Markdown paper card with linked notes.

Frequently Asked Questions about paper-research-assistant

High-intent search queries and answers about installing and using this skill.

FAQPage Schema

How do I convert an arXiv paper into structured literature notes?▼

To convert an arXiv paper into structured literature notes, normalize the source input to generate a consistent paper object, then analyze it to produce local Markdown paper cards, literature matrices, and research notes.

Can I resolve academic papers using just a DOI or pasted title?▼

Yes, you can resolve academic papers using a DOI URL, arXiv link, local PDF, or pasted title. The Skill identifies the exact source and normalizes the input into consistent metadata before analysis.

What's the best way to build a literature matrix from multiple research papers?▼

The best way to build a literature matrix from multiple research papers is to resolve each source, perform deep reading and cross-paper synthesis, and output the comparisons into a local Markdown literature matrix.

Do I need pypdf installed to generate research notes from PDFs?▼

Yes, you need pypdf installed as a dependency to process local PDF files, resolve their academic sources, and convert them into reusable Markdown research notes and paper cards.

How do I critique and identify research gaps across related academic papers?▼

To critique and identify research gaps across related academic papers, use the deep reading and synthesis features to compare methods, summarize findings, and generate structured notes highlighting gaps for follow-up experiments.

Why should I use Markdown paper cards for academic literature triage?▼

Markdown paper cards provide reusable, evidence-backed judgments for academic literature triage, allowing you to quickly assess single papers and save structured outputs locally for planning follow-up experiments.
