System Documentation

What problem does it solve?

The PARA Method fixes chaotic, topic-driven filing systems by reorganizing notes, files, and tasks according to actionability so you always know where to look and what to do next. It reduces decision paralysis, prevents hoarding of resources, and makes weekly and monthly reviews fast and repeatable.

Core Features & Use Cases

  • Clear four-bucket taxonomy: Projects (active work), Areas (ongoing responsibilities), Resources (reference), Archives (inactive).
  • Decision framework & tests: Simple questions and a decision tree to reliably sort items during migrations or daily capture.
  • Platform implementations: Practical guidance for Notion, Obsidian, Evernote, Apple Notes, and common file systems with templates and dataview/query examples.
  • Maintenance workflows: Weekly, monthly, and quarterly review checklists to keep the system healthy.
  • Use case: Migrate a messy note vault into a searchable Second Brain, extract action items into projects, and link resources to active work.

Quick Start

Sort a "To Sort" folder into 1-Projects, 2-Areas, 3-Resources, and 4-Archives using the PARA decision tests and then run a weekly review to keep Projects current.
