SYSTEM DOCUMENTATION & REQUIREMENTS

What problem does it solve?

This skill translates architecture into an actionable development plan, turning designs into concrete tasks, estimates, and milestones to prevent drift during delivery.

Core Features & Use Cases

Work Breakdown Structure creation and task decomposition (Epic → Feature → Story → Task)
Resource planning, risk management, QA strategy, and Sprint 0 readiness
Templates and guidance to align teams for Phase 5 start with a well-scoped plan

Quick Start

Create a WBS, outline a Resource Plan, assemble a Risk Register, define a Quality & Test Plan, and prepare Sprint 0 documents using the phase_04 templates. Then begin Phase 5 with a clear, documented plan.

Frequently Asked Questions about phase_04_development_planning

High-intent search queries and answers about installing and using this skill.

FAQPage Schema

How do I create a Work Breakdown Structure from software architecture designs?▼

A Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) decomposes architecture into actionable tasks using the Epic → Feature → Story → Task hierarchy. This prevents delivery drift by translating designs into concrete tasks, estimates, and milestones for engineering teams.

What is included in development planning for Sprint 0 readiness?▼

Sprint 0 readiness requires a documented development plan including a Work Breakdown Structure, Resource Plan, Risk Register, Quality and Test Plan, and CI/CD pipeline design. These outputs align teams and ensure a confident start to the next delivery phase.

How do I plan resources and manage risks for a software development roadmap?▼

Resource planning and risk management involve assembling a Resource Plan and a Risk Register alongside the WBS. This process translates architecture into an actionable development roadmap, specifying estimates and milestones to prevent drift during delivery.

How do I design a CI/CD pipeline and QA strategy for a new development phase?▼

Designing a CI/CD pipeline and QA strategy involves defining a Quality and Test Plan alongside Sprint 0 documents. This specifies pipeline outputs and templates to ensure a well-scoped plan and a confident start for the next engineering phase.

Can I use this development planning approach for small engineering teams?▼

This development planning approach applies to engineering teams needing to translate designs into actionable roadmaps. It provides structured templates for WBS, resource planning, and QA strategy to align teams of varying scales for Phase 5 start.
