SYSTEM DOCUMENTATION & REQUIREMENTS

💡 This Skill includes references (resource) components.

What problem does it solve?

This Skill helps researchers create and manage pre-registration documents, ensuring a clear, falsifiable hypothesis, a detailed analysis plan, and a commitment to the scientific method before data collection begins.

Core Features & Use Cases

Drafting Pre-registrations: Guides the creation of documents for various registries (e.g., OSF, AsPredicted).
Review and Deviation Logging: Facilitates review processes and tracks any changes to the original plan after data collection starts.
Use Case: A psychology lab is about to start a new experiment. They use this Skill to generate a formal pre-registration document outlining their hypotheses, participant recruitment strategy, and statistical analysis plan, which is then submitted to the Open Science Framework.

Quick Start

Use the phase-preregistration skill to draft a new pre-registration document for the OSF registry.

Frequently Asked Questions about phase-preregistration

High-intent search queries and answers about installing and using this skill.

FAQPage Schema

How do I create a pre-registration document for OSF?▼

To create a pre-registration document for OSF, define clear, falsifiable hypotheses and a detailed analysis plan before data collection. This skill guides the drafting process for registries like OSF and AsPredicted.

What is a falsifiable hypothesis in research pre-registration?▼

A falsifiable hypothesis in pre-registration is a directional prediction that can be empirically tested and potentially disproven. This skill enforces directional and falsifiable hypotheses to ensure scientific integrity before data collection begins.

How do I log deviations from my analysis plan after data collection?▼

To log deviations from your analysis plan after data collection, document any changes made to the original pre-registration. This skill facilitates the review process and tracks deviations to maintain transparency in scientific research.

Can I specify exploratory analyses in my pre-registration?▼

Yes, you can specify exploratory analyses in your pre-registration. This skill ensures a clear distinction between confirmatory analyses, which test pre-specified hypotheses, and exploratory analyses conducted post hoc.

Does this skill work with AsPredicted pre-registration templates?▼

Yes, this skill works with AsPredicted templates. It supports drafting pre-registration documents for various registries, including AsPredicted and the Open Science Framework, to formalize your research methods.
