SYSTEM DOCUMENTATION & REQUIREMENTS

What problem does it solve?

A standing research file for a single question that ingests sources over time to build a living synthesis that stays current with new information tracked and evolved as sources are added.

Core Features & Use Cases

Ingest and organize sources (web, file, or text) into a dedicated workspace tied to a question.
Maintain a living synthesis that evolves with every added source, including a timeline of updates.
Support lifecycle verbs such as start, add, resynthesize, and show to manage long-running research.

Quick Start

Start a long-running research for a question and begin ingesting sources to build a living synthesis.

High-intent search queries and answers about installing and using this skill.

FAQPage Schema

How do I maintain a living research synthesis that updates as I add new sources?▼

To maintain a living research synthesis, you can ingest URLs, files, and text sources into a structured workspace. The synthesis evolves automatically with each new source added, tracking progress through a running timeline.

What is the best way to organize long-running research around a single question?▼

Organizing long-running research involves tying all ingested sources to a dedicated workspace for a specific question. This approach maintains a standing synthesis and uses a structured storage layout with an index, synthesis file, and sources directory.

Can I ingest web pages and local files together to build a single knowledge base?▼

Yes, you can ingest web URLs, local files, and direct text sources together to build a single knowledge base. Each source is stored with per-source notes to contribute to the overall question-specific synthesis.

How do I manage the lifecycle of a long-running research project?▼

You manage the research lifecycle using specific verbs: start to begin, add to ingest new sources, resynthesize to update the synthesis, and show to display the current state and timeline of the research.

Does this research approach track progress over time as new information arrives?▼

Yes, this research approach tracks progress over time by maintaining a running timeline. This timeline shows all updates and evolution of the synthesis as new information and sources are added to the workspace.
