SYSTEM DOCUMENTATION & REQUIREMENTS

💡 This Skill includes references (resource) components.

What problem does it solve?

This Skill guides product managers in selecting the most effective and cost-efficient Proof of Life (PoL) probe type for validating hypotheses and mitigating risks, preventing mismatches between validation methods and learning goals.

Core Features & Use Cases

Guided Selection: Interactively asks questions about your hypothesis, risk, timeline, and resources.
5 Probe Types: Recommends one of five distinct PoL probe flavors (Feasibility Check, Task-Focused Test, Narrative Prototype, Synthetic Data Simulation, Vibe-Coded PoL Probe).
Use Case: You have a new feature idea and need to validate user adoption. This Skill will help you determine whether to build a quick prototype, run a user survey, or create a video walkthrough based on your specific needs.

Quick Start

Use the Pol Probe Advisor skill to select the best validation method for testing if users can complete the new checkout flow.

FAQPage Schema

What is a Proof of Life probe in product validation?▼

A Proof of Life probe is a product validation method that tests a hypothesis using the cheapest prototype to verify the harshest truth, mitigating risk before committing significant development resources to a new feature.

How do I choose the right prototype to validate a product hypothesis?▼

To choose the right validation prototype, you must evaluate your hypothesis, risk level, timeline, and resource constraints to match the testing method with your specific learning goals and problem-solution fit requirements.

When should I use a synthetic data simulation instead of a narrative prototype?▼

Use a synthetic data simulation for product validation when you need to test system behavior under specific data conditions, whereas a narrative prototype is better for validating user comprehension and story flow.

What is the best way to test if users can complete a new checkout flow?▼

The best way to test a new checkout flow is to run a task-focused test, which evaluates whether users can successfully complete specific actions and validates the core problem-solution fit efficiently.

Can I use a feasibility check to mitigate product risk for a new feature idea?▼

Yes, a feasibility check is a Proof of Life probe used to mitigate technical risk by validating whether a proposed feature idea is technically possible before building an interactive prototype.

Why does my validation method fail to match my product hypothesis?▼

Validation methods fail when there is a method-hypothesis mismatch, meaning the prototype type chosen does not align with the specific learning goals, risks, or resource constraints of your product hypothesis.
