Frequently Asked Questions about Power BI Partitions & Expressions

High-intent search queries and answers about installing and using this skill.

FAQPage Schema

How do I configure incremental refresh partitions in Power BI?▼

Configure incremental refresh partitions by managing table partitions through pbi-cli operations. This Skill creates, lists, refreshes, and deletes partitions to optimize data loading workflows and automate JSON-based model updates.

What is the best way to manage shared Power Query M expressions across data sources?▼

Manage shared Power Query M expressions by configuring reusable named expressions for parameters and connection settings. This centralizes data source control and streamlines expression management within your Power BI model.

How do I set up and mark a calendar table for Power BI time intelligence?▼

Set up calendar tables by configuring date table settings and validating Power Query data generation patterns. This ensures proper date configuration for accurate time intelligence calculations and reporting.

Can I automate Power BI partition creation and TMDL-based model workflows using pbi-cli?▼

Yes, automate partition creation and TMDL-based model workflows using pbi-cli operations. This Skill applies JSON automation to manage partitions, expressions, and table date configurations without manual interface intervention.

Do I need pbi-cli to manage Power BI table partitions and named expressions?▼

Yes, pbi-cli operations are required to execute partition creation, expression management, and calendar marking. This Skill relies on command-line automation to configure incremental refresh and TMDL-based model workflows.

Why are my Power Query data generation patterns failing during calendar table validation?▼

Calendar table validation fails when Power Query M expressions contain incorrect date generation patterns. This Skill validates data generation logic and configures table date settings to ensure proper time intelligence setup.
