💡 This Skill includes references (resource) components.

What problem does it solve?

Building and maintaining Power BI semantic models can be complex, error-prone, and governance-heavy, requiring consistent patterns across measures, tables, relationships, deployment, and On-Prem/OneLake workflows.

Core Features & Use Cases

Guidance for creating and editing semantic models, including measures, tables, relationships, and DAX optimization.
Deployment guidance to Fabric workspaces or PBIP-based projects, with BPA checks and TMDL/TMDL guidance.
Support for PBIP and PBIP-related workflows, including PBIR integration and model refresh procedures.

Quick Start

Ask me to plan, build, and deploy a new semantic model to a Fabric workspace.

High-intent search queries and answers about installing and using this skill.

FAQPage Schema

How do I build and deploy a Power BI semantic model in Fabric?▼

To build and deploy a Power BI semantic model in Fabric, you need to design tables, relationships, and measures, then apply BPA checks and TMDL guidance before deploying to a Fabric workspace.

What is the best way to optimize DAX measures in a Power BI semantic model?▼

Optimizing DAX measures in a Power BI semantic model involves applying consistent modeling patterns, validating logic through BPA checks, and leveraging TMDL guidance to streamline measure definitions and performance.

How does PBIP workflow integration work for Power BI semantic modeling?▼

PBIP workflow integration for Power BI semantic modeling works by applying TMDL guidance and BPA checks to standardize model definitions, enabling seamless source control and deployment to OneLake or On-Prem environments.

Can I automate Power BI semantic model validation and deployment?▼

Yes, you can automate Power BI semantic model validation and deployment by leveraging repository references and frontmatter knowledge to drive MCP-based modeling, applying BPA checks before deploying to PBIP-based projects.

Do I need TMDL guidance to maintain Power BI modeling guidelines?▼

You need TMDL guidance to maintain Power BI modeling guidelines because it provides a text-based format for semantic model definitions, ensuring consistent patterns across tables, relationships, and measures during deployment.

Why does my Power BI semantic model fail BPA checks during deployment?▼

A Power BI semantic model fails BPA checks during deployment when it violates established modeling guidelines, containing inconsistent patterns across measures, tables, or relationships that require correction before Fabric workspace publishing.
