SYSTEM DOCUMENTATION & REQUIREMENTS

💡 This Skill includes references (resource) components.

What problem does it solve?

This Skill helps you make difficult prioritization decisions by applying established frameworks, ensuring you focus on the most impactful work and can gracefully decline lower-priority requests.

Core Features & Use Cases

RICE Framework: Quantitatively score features based on Reach, Impact, Confidence, and Effort.
Value vs. Effort Matrix: Visually categorize tasks into quick wins, strategic initiatives, fill-ins, or items to avoid.
Use Case: When faced with a backlog of 20 feature ideas, use this Skill to apply the RICE framework to each, identify the top 3 to pursue this quarter, and clearly articulate why the others will be deferred.

Quick Start

Use the prioritization-craft skill to score the following features using the RICE framework: Feature A (Reach: 1000, Impact: 2, Confidence: 80%, Effort: 1), Feature B (Reach: 500, Impact: 3, Confidence: 90%, Effort: 2).

FAQPage Schema

How do I use the RICE framework to prioritize my product backlog?▼

To prioritize your product backlog using the RICE framework, score each feature based on Reach, Impact, Confidence, and Effort. This Skill calculates the quantitative RICE score to rank features, helping you identify the highest-impact work and defer lower-priority requests.

What is the Value vs Effort matrix and when should I use it for feature prioritization?▼

The Value vs Effort matrix is a feature prioritization technique that categorizes tasks into quick wins, strategic initiatives, fill-ins, or items to avoid. Use it when you need visual tradeoff analysis for backlog management and deciding which features to decline.

Can I apply the Kano model alongside RICE for product strategy decisions?▼

Yes, you can apply the Kano model alongside RICE for product strategy decisions. This Skill supports both qualitative and quantitative prioritization frameworks, combining the Kano model's customer satisfaction analysis with RICE scoring to facilitate comprehensive feature selection and tradeoff analysis.

What metrics do I need to provide for RICE feature scoring?▼

For RICE feature scoring, you must provide structured input metrics for reach, impact, confidence, and effort. The Skill requires these specific quantitative values to calculate accurate RICE scores and deliver reliable backlog prioritization results for your product strategy.

What is the best way to compare RICE and ICE frameworks for backlog management?▼

The best way to compare RICE and ICE frameworks for backlog management is evaluating their scoring inputs: RICE includes Reach and Effort, while ICE focuses on Impact, Confidence, and Ease. This Skill applies both methodologies to help you select the right approach for your feature tradeoff analysis.

Why does my RICE framework output change when I adjust confidence percentages?▼

Your RICE framework output changes when adjusting confidence percentages because confidence directly modifies the final score by accounting for data uncertainty. This Skill multiplies Reach, Impact, and Confidence, then divides by Effort, meaning lower confidence percentages proportionally reduce the overall feature prioritization score.
