SYSTEM DOCUMENTATION & REQUIREMENTS

What problem does it solve?

This Skill helps you diagnose and resolve system slowdowns caused by runaway CPU or memory usage, thermal throttling, or excessive startup items.

Core Features & Use Cases

Resource diagnosis for performance issues: Identifies top CPU/memory consumers, checks memory pressure, and verifies whether the CPU is throttling due to heat.
Safe, targeted remediation: Offers actions to restart common top-level apps, force-quit runaway CPU or memory processes, and disable non-Apple startup login items.
Use Case: When your Mac becomes sluggish after opening an app or when an application freezes and the fan gets loud, the Skill pinpoints likely causes and proposes the least disruptive fixes first.

Quick Start

Use the process-manager skill when your computer is running hot, slow, or an app is frozen, and ask it to diagnose and fix the performance problem.

Frequently Asked Questions about process-manager

High-intent search queries and answers about installing and using this skill.

FAQPage Schema

How do I fix high CPU usage and slow performance on my Mac?▼

Diagnosing slow performance involves collecting top resource consumers, checking memory pressure, and evaluating CPU temperature for thermal throttling. This skill automates that diagnosis and offers categorized options to restart, force-quit, or disable problematic processes and startup items.

Why does my computer run hot and the fan get loud when an app freezes?▼

Computers run hot and fans get loud during thermal throttling when runaway processes spike CPU usage. This skill checks CPU temperature to verify throttling and pinpoints the specific frozen application causing the heat, proposing the least disruptive fixes first.

How do I safely stop runaway processes without crashing my system?▼

To safely stop runaway processes, you must apply guardrails that prevent terminating critical non-actionable system processes. This skill identifies runaway CPU or memory consumers and offers targeted force-quit options that only affect safe, top-level user applications.

How do I disable excessive startup items to speed up slow boot times?▼

To speed up slow boot times, you need to list and disable non-Apple startup login items that automatically load and consume resources. This skill identifies excessive startup items and provides categorized options to safely disable them.

Can this skill diagnose memory pressure and frozen applications on macOS?▼

Yes, this skill diagnoses memory pressure and frozen applications by collecting data on top resource consumers and checking system memory allocation. It presents categorized options to force-quit frozen apps while applying guardrails to protect essential system processes.
