SYSTEM DOCUMENTATION & REQUIREMENTS

What problem does it solve?

This Skill helps teams translate vague project descriptions into structured, task-based estimates by breaking work down into smaller units and mapping effort to engineer roles.

Core Features & Use Cases

Hierarchical task breakdown (Project > Epic > Feature > Task)
Role-based effort allocation (BE/FE/QA/DevOps)
Output options and toolkit integration (Excel via xlsx, Jira backlog push)
Use Case: plan a new software initiative from scope to backlog with clear estimates

Quick Start

Use this skill to generate a baseline, role-based estimation for a sample project, such as a web dashboard with authentication and reporting.

Frequently Asked Questions about project-estimation

High-intent search queries and answers about installing and using this skill.

FAQPage Schema

How do I create role-based software project estimates from a vague scope?▼

You can generate role-based project estimates by enforcing a clear scope and breaking work into a hierarchical structure of Epics, Features, and Tasks, then mapping specific effort hours to engineer roles like BE, FE, QA, and DevOps.

Can I push task-based project estimations directly into a Jira backlog?▼

Yes, structured task-based estimations can be pushed directly into a Jira backlog. The skill maps the hierarchical task breakdown into backlog items to streamline software development planning.

Does this estimation approach support different project scales like MVP and production?▼

Yes, the estimation approach supports PoC, MVP, and production-scale scenarios. It allocates role-based effort across these different software development stages to provide accurate project planning.

What is the best way to break down software development work for accurate planning?▼

The best way to break down software development work is using a hierarchical structure: Project, Epic, Feature, and Task. This granular task breakdown enables precise, role-based effort allocation for engineering teams.

Can I export project planning estimations to Excel for reporting?▼

Yes, you can export project planning estimations to Excel. The skill supports Excel output via xlsx integration, allowing teams to share structured, role-based effort allocations externally.
