SYSTEM DOCUMENTATION & REQUIREMENTS

What problem does it solve?

Network teams deploy changes without baselines, risking misconfigurations and outages. This skill automates baseline capture, controlled deployment, and post-change verification to ensure safe, auditable changes.

Core Features & Use Cases

Pre-change baseline capture and state validation for devices and configurations
Deterministic change deployment with rollback planning and governance
Post-change verification and compliance checks across multi-vendor environments
Audit trails and change reports for governance and auditing

Quick Start

Capture a pre-change baseline, push the desired configuration, and verify post-change state using the pyATS workflow.

Frequently Asked Questions about pyats-config-mgmt

High-intent search queries and answers about installing and using this skill.

FAQPage Schema

How do I automate network change management and verify configurations before and after deployment?▼

Network change management is automated by capturing a pre-change baseline, applying the new configuration, and validating the post-change state. This ensures deployments are safe, auditable, and easily rolled back if issues occur.

Can I use pyATS for compliance checks across multi-vendor network environments?▼

Yes, pyATS performs post-change verification and compliance checks across multi-vendor networks. It validates device state against captured baselines to ensure deployed configurations meet your governance and auditing requirements.

What do I need to set up before capturing a pre-change baseline for network configuration deployment?▼

You need Python 3 installed and a configured pyATS environment with the PYATS_TESTBED_PATH variable set. This setup allows the MCP workflow to execute the required pre-change and post-change baseline validations.

How does baseline capture help prevent network outages during device config pushes?▼

Baseline capture records the pre-change device state before config pushes, allowing you to compare it against post-change results. This deterministic change deployment approach identifies misconfigurations early and enables rollback planning.

What's the best way to generate audit trails and change reports for network governance?▼

Automating your workflow with baseline capture and post-change verification generates audit trails and change reports automatically. These documents provide the governance and auditing records needed for network compliance validation.

Does this approach support rollback planning for multi-vendor network changes?▼

Yes, rollback planning is integrated into the deterministic change deployment process. By capturing pre-change baselines across multi-vendor networks, the system can safely revert configurations if post-change verification detects failures.
