SYSTEM DOCUMENTATION & REQUIREMENTS

What problem does it solve?

It helps you decide whether a research project has gathered enough evidence to stop collecting more sources and move on, without forcing a numeric threshold or premature phase change.

Core Features & Use Cases

Qualitative saturation check: Reads the synthesis matrix and memos by eye to judge whether the corpus is still changing or has stabilized.
Stop-signal recommendation: Returns a practical recommendation such as keep gathering or move to synthesize, while leaving the final decision to the human.
Lightweight state marker: May write only a verdict_status note into overview.md as an optional record of the last read.
Use case: A researcher asks whether a project has enough corroboration across sources and wants a disciplined, non-numeric answer before ending capture.

Quick Start

Ask the research-project-check skill to review the current project folder, read synthesis-matrix.md and memos.md, and tell you whether the corpus looks saturated or still needs more gathering.

Frequently Asked Questions about research-project-check

High-intent search queries and answers about installing and using this skill.

FAQPage Schema

How do I check research saturation before moving to synthesis?▼

Qualitative saturation analysis reads synthesis matrices and project memos to determine if a research corpus has stabilized. It provides a non-numeric stop-signal recommendation on whether to keep gathering sources or move to synthesis, leaving the final decision to human judgment.

How do I know if I have enough sources to stop gathering research data?▼

Research saturation is reached when qualitative judgment over your synthesis matrix and memos shows the corpus has stabilized. This check provides a disciplined, non-numeric stop-signal recommendation indicating whether to end source capture and move to synthesis.

What is the best way to evaluate qualitative research saturation without numeric thresholds?▼

Qualitative saturation analysis evaluates synthesis matrices and project memos without forcing numeric thresholds. It applies by-eye judgment to check stop-signal phrasing and determine if the corpus has stabilized, returning a practical recommendation to keep gathering or move to synthesize.

Can I use qualitative analysis to decide when to stop collecting sources?▼

Yes, qualitative saturation analysis determines when to stop collecting sources by reading synthesis matrices and memos to check if the corpus has stabilized. It provides a stop-signal recommendation without counters or phase changes, leaving the final decision to the researcher.

Does saturation analysis automatically change my research project phase?▼

No, saturation analysis does not automatically change your research project phase. It only performs a qualitative read of synthesis matrices and memos, optionally writing a verdict status note to overview.md without applying counters, scores, or phase changes.

Why does qualitative saturation analysis avoid numeric scores?▼

Qualitative saturation analysis avoids numeric scores to prevent premature phase changes and forced thresholds. It relies on by-eye judgment over synthesis matrices and memos to provide a disciplined, non-numeric stop-signal recommendation about whether to move to synthesis.
