💡 This Skill includes references (resource) components.

What problem does it solve?

This Skill sets up a durable project workspace for a sustained research effort so you can track a question over weeks instead of treating it like a one-off lookup.

Core Features & Use Cases

Project Scaffolding: Creates the three-layer research folder structure with an overview file, a raw sources layer, and room for later synthesis artifacts.
Lifecycle Setup: Records the research question, an optional working hypothesis, the project shape, and the initial capture phase in editable frontmatter.
Path Resolution and Guardrails: Resolves the project parent from adopter configuration or a safe scratch default, surfaces the final path before writing, and prevents unsafe location choices.
Use Case: Start a multi-week investigation into a product decision, regulatory topic, or technical strategy and keep the evidence corpus organized from day one.

Quick Start

Ask the assistant to start a research project on your topic and scaffold the project folder with an initial question, working hypothesis, and capture phase.

FAQPage Schema

How do I start a long-term research project and organize sources effectively?▼

Scaffold a sustained research project by generating a directory with a three-layer folder structure, capturing your research question, working hypothesis, project shape, and initial capture phase in editable frontmatter to organize sources from day one.

What is research project scaffolding and when do I need it?▼

Research project scaffolding creates a durable workspace with an overview file, raw sources layer, and space for synthesis artifacts. You need it when tracking an investigation over multiple weeks rather than doing a one-off lookup.

Can I set up a research dossier for a multi-week investigation?▼

Yes, you can open a research dossier by setting up a multi-week investigation directory. The scaffold records your research question, optional working hypothesis, project shape, and initial capture phase in editable frontmatter.

How do I track a research question and working hypothesis over time?▼

Track a research question and working hypothesis by storing them in the project's editable frontmatter. This lifecycle setup also records the project shape, current phase, and stop signal to guide your investigation.

Where are research project folders created and can I specify the directory path?▼

Folder paths are resolved from adopter configuration or a safe scratch default. The Skill surfaces the final path before writing and applies guardrails to prevent unsafe location choices for your research workspace.
