SYSTEM DOCUMENTATION & REQUIREMENTS

💡 This Skill includes references (resource) components.

What problem does it solve?

This Skill addresses the complexities of managing cloud infrastructure using Terraform, ensuring consistency, security, and efficient deployment.

Core Features & Use Cases

Module Design & State Management: Guides on structuring reusable Terraform modules and configuring secure remote state.
Infrastructure Testing & Security: Integrates testing frameworks like Terratest and security scanners like Checkov/tfsec into CI/CD pipelines.
Use Case: You need to set up a new multi-environment infrastructure using Terraform. This Skill will help you design modular code, configure a remote backend with state locking, and implement CI checks for security and drift detection.

Quick Start

Use the terraform-expert skill to review the HCL module structure and variable validation blocks for a new VPC module.

High-intent search queries and answers about installing and using this skill.

FAQPage Schema

How do I structure reusable Terraform modules for multi-environment infrastructure?▼

To structure reusable Terraform modules, design HCL code with variable validation blocks and configure secure remote backends with state locking for consistent multi-environment infrastructure deployments.

What's the best way to manage Terraform state across different environments?▼

Managing Terraform state involves configuring remote backends with state locking to ensure secure, consistent deployments and prevent concurrent overwrite issues across multiple environments.

How do I integrate security scanning tools like Checkov and tfsec into a Terraform CI/CD pipeline?▼

Integrating security scanning into a Terraform CI/CD pipeline involves configuring tools like Checkov and tfsec to run automated checks for infrastructure vulnerabilities and configuration drift detection.

Can I use Terragrunt to keep Terraform configurations DRY across multiple environments?▼

Terragrunt implements DRY configurations for Terraform by abstracting repeated backend and provider configurations, enabling maintainable infrastructure deployments across multiple environments.

How does infrastructure testing with Terratest validate Terraform modules?▼

Infrastructure testing with Terratest validates Terraform modules by deploying real infrastructure resources in a test environment, running automated checks, and tearing down the resources afterwards.

When do I need to implement remote backends and state locking in Terraform?▼

Implement remote backends and state locking in Terraform when collaborating on infrastructure as code, to prevent concurrent state corruption and ensure secure, consistent deployments across teams.
