SYSTEM DOCUMENTATION & REQUIREMENTS

💡 This Skill requires rclpy, and includes scripts (resource) and references (resource) components.

What problem does it solve?

AI agents require a natural way to interact with ROS 2 systems; ros2-skill enables these agents to control ROS 2 robots through natural-language commands by translating intents into ROS 2 CLI actions and returning JSON outputs.

Core Features & Use Cases

Natural-language ROS 2 control: Convert human requests into ros2_cli.py invocations and provide structured JSON results.
Comprehensive ROS 2 coverage: Manage topics, services, nodes, parameters, actions, and robot movement and sensor data from a single skill.
On-board agent integration: Seamlessly loads SKILL.md into the agent prompt and executes ROS 2 operations in-context for dynamic automation.

Quick Start

Ask your AI to perform an action like listing topics or moving the robot; the skill will translate it into ROS 2 commands and return JSON results.

Frequently Asked Questions about ros2-skill

High-intent search queries and answers about installing and using this skill.

FAQPage Schema

How do I control ROS 2 robots using natural language commands?▼

You can control ROS 2 robots by loading the skill into your AI agent, which translates natural language commands into ros2_cli.py invocations and returns structured JSON results for each operation.

What ROS 2 operations can an AI agent perform through natural language?▼

AI agents can manage ROS 2 topics, services, nodes, parameters, and actions, enabling tasks like listing topics, publishing velocity, calling services, or monitoring sensor data.

How do I integrate natural language processing with rclpy for robotics automation?▼

You can integrate NLP with rclpy by loading the skill's SKILL.md into your agent's system prompt, allowing it to dynamically translate intents into rclpy-backed ROS 2 CLI actions in-context.

Do I need rclpy installed to use natural language commands with ROS 2?▼

Yes, rclpy is a required dependency, as the skill relies on it to translate natural language intents into executable ros2_cli.py actions and return structured JSON outputs.

How does an AI agent return data when querying ROS 2 topics or sensors?▼

When an AI agent queries ROS 2 topics or monitors sensors, the skill translates the request into a CLI action and returns the operation results as structured JSON data.
