SYSTEM DOCUMENTATION & REQUIREMENTS

💡 This Skill requires pandas, numpy, scipy, and includes scripts (resource) and references (resource) and assets (resource) components.

What problem does it solve?

This Skill provides a structured, cognitive-discipline approach to analyzing complex technical problems, ensuring thoroughness and reducing bias.

Core Features & Use Cases

Structured Hypothesis Generation: Generates a minimum of five hypotheses, including null and uncomfortable ones, using multiple methods.
Rigorous Evaluation: Employs the ACH (Analysis of Competing Hypotheses) matrix for evidence-based scoring and sensitivity analysis.
Confidence Calibration: Provides clear confidence levels with numeric ranges and identifies assumptions and falsification criteria.
Use Case: When investigating a security incident with ambiguous logs, use this Skill to systematically generate and evaluate potential causes, leading to a more reliable assessment than ad-hoc analysis.

Quick Start

Use the sat-analysis skill to analyze the provided log data and generate hypotheses about the root cause.

High-intent search queries and answers about installing and using this skill.

FAQPage Schema

What is structured analytic tradecraft for complex technical problems?▼

Structured Analytic Techniques (SAT) provide a cognitive-discipline framework for rigorous hypothesis generation and evidence evaluation, reducing cognitive bias during complex technical investigations.

How do I use an ACH matrix for incident analysis?▼

You use an Analysis of Competing Hypotheses (ACH) matrix to systematically score evidence against multiple generated hypotheses, enabling sensitivity analysis and confidence calibration for reliable root cause assessment.

How do I generate hypotheses for security breach detection with ambiguous logs?▼

To generate hypotheses for ambiguous security logs, enforce cognitive discipline by creating a minimum of five explanations—including null and uncomfortable hypotheses—before evaluating evidence against them.

Can I use structured analysis techniques for crash analysis and fix verification?▼

Yes, structured analysis techniques support multiple modes including crash analysis and fix verification, ensuring thoroughness and confidence calibration when diagnosing software or system failures.

Does this analysis technique identify falsification criteria and assumptions?▼

Yes, the structured analysis workflow explicitly identifies underlying assumptions and defines falsification criteria alongside clear numeric confidence ranges to calibrate the final assessment.

What is the best way to reduce cognitive bias during technical incident analysis?▼

The best way to reduce cognitive bias is applying structured tradecraft like the ACH matrix, which forces rigorous evidence-based scoring and sensitivity analysis instead of relying on ad-hoc conclusions.
