SYSTEM DOCUMENTATION & REQUIREMENTS

💡 This Skill includes scripts (resource) and references (resource) and assets (resource) components.

What problem does it solve?

This Skill streamlines the entire process of building full-stack Ethereum decentralized applications (dApps), from smart contract development to frontend integration, significantly reducing boilerplate code and development time.

Core Features & Use Cases

Full-Stack Framework: Integrates Foundry/Hardhat for smart contracts and Next.js for the frontend.
Developer Experience: Provides custom React hooks (useScaffoldWriteContract, useScaffoldReadContract), auto-generated debug pages, and contract hot-reloading.
Use Case: Quickly scaffold a new dApp, deploy contracts to a local testnet, and interact with them immediately through a generated UI, enabling rapid prototyping and iteration.

Quick Start

Create a new Scaffold-ETH 2 project by running npx create-eth@latest in your terminal.

Frequently Asked Questions about scaffold-eth-2

High-intent search queries and answers about installing and using this skill.

FAQPage Schema

How do I build a full-stack Ethereum dApp with React and smart contracts?▼

To build a full-stack Ethereum dApp with React, this framework integrates Next.js for the frontend and Foundry or Hardhat for smart contracts. It provides custom hooks and auto-generated UIs to connect your frontend to deployed contracts immediately.

What is the best way to reduce boilerplate when scaffolding a Web3 dApp?▼

The best way to reduce boilerplate when scaffolding a Web3 dApp is using a framework that provides pre-built React hooks like useScaffoldWriteContract. It abstracts common setup tasks, enabling rapid prototyping without manual contract integration code.

Can I use Foundry and Hardhat together for smart contract development in Next.js?▼

Yes, you can use Foundry or Hardhat for smart contract development within this Next.js framework. It supports both toolchains, allowing you to compile, test, and deploy contracts while maintaining a cohesive frontend development environment.

How do I interact with deployed smart contracts in React without writing manual Web3 code?▼

You interact with deployed smart contracts using auto-generated custom React hooks like useScaffoldReadContract and useScaffoldWriteContract. These hooks handle the Web3 provider connections, allowing you to read and write contract state directly from your UI.

Does scaffold-eth-2 support contract hot-reloading for rapid dApp prototyping?▼

Yes, scaffold-eth-2 supports smart contract hot-reloading for rapid dApp prototyping. When you modify and save a contract, the framework automatically recompiles, deploys to the local testnet, and updates the frontend UI without requiring a manual restart.

What are the limitations of using a full-stack Web3 framework for Ethereum dApp development?▼

A limitation of using this full-stack Web3 framework is its strong coupling to specific tools like Next.js, Foundry, and Hardhat. Projects requiring different frontend architectures or non-standard EVM chains may find the abstraction restrictive and bypass the built-in hooks.
