SYSTEM DOCUMENTATION & REQUIREMENTS

What problem does it solve?

Scaffold Exercises automates the creation of exercise directory trees from a course plan, producing sections, exercises, and variant stubs with ready-to-lint structure.

Core Features & Use Cases

Generate nested directories from a plan, including sections (XX-section-name) and exercises (XX.YY-exercise-name) with variant subfolders (problem, solution, explainer).
Create non-empty readmes and enforce naming conventions, enabling immediate lint validation and error-free commits.
Execute the end-to-end workflow: parse plan -> scaffold -> lint -> fix to deliver a production-ready course skeleton.

Quick Start

Provide a course plan to the tool and it will generate the exercise directories and run lint to ensure quality.

FAQPage Schema

How do I auto-generate exercise directory trees from a course plan?▼

To auto-generate exercise directory trees from a course plan, provide the plan to the tool to create sections and exercises with stub subfolders (problem, solution, explainer) and optional assets. The tool then validates the structure via a lint workflow to ensure non-empty readmes and consistent naming.

What is the best way to scaffold course exercises with problem, solution, and explainer stubs?▼

Scaffolding course exercises with problem, solution, and explainer stubs is best handled by parsing a plan-based curriculum into nested directories. This creates section and exercise folders with non-empty readmes, enforcing naming conventions and enabling immediate lint validation for error-free commits.

How does lint validation work for generated course exercise directories?▼

Lint validation for generated course exercise directories checks for required readmes, non-empty content, and consistent naming. It runs a lint pass that checks for broken links and no gitkeep files using the pnpm ai-hero-cli internal lint command to ensure a production-ready course skeleton.

Can I use this scaffolding tool for plan-based curricula without external dependencies?▼

Yes, you can use this scaffolding tool for plan-based curricula without external dependencies. It operates independently to parse your plan, generate the exercise directory tree, and run the lint workflow to fix structural issues and deliver a ready-to-commit course skeleton.

Why does my generated course scaffold fail the lint check for broken links and gitkeep files?▼

Generated course scaffolds fail lint checks for broken links and gitkeep files if the directory structure is incomplete. The lint workflow validates required readmes, non-empty content, and consistent naming, checking specifically for broken links and gitkeep files using pnpm ai-hero-cli internal lint before allowing commits.
