SYSTEM DOCUMENTATION & REQUIREMENTS

💡 This Skill includes scripts (resource) and references (resource) components.

What problem does it solve? A crowded Codex task sidebar makes it hard to tell which tasks need attention, what work category each belongs to, and which have gone stale. This Skill inventories the sidebar, assigns evidence-based priorities and categories, and applies verified label updates. ## Core Features & Use Cases - Three operating modes: Refresh preserves priorities while updating categories and B7 markers; Reset reassesses priorities from current evidence; Audit prepares a plan without applying changes. - Evidence-based prioritization: Assigns P0-P4 priorities using a rubric tied to deadlines, blockers, and verified completion, plus B7 markers for tasks inactive more than seven days. - Label planning script: scripts/plan_labels.py validates evidence-enriched JSON records, formats titles under a 57-character limit, and flags unknown or future-dated activity for review. - Use Case: After a busy week, ask for a full sidebar reset. The Skill lists all threads, reads recent outcomes, relabels tasks like "P2B7 - Revenue - Renewals review", applies changes by ID, and reads back the final state to verify. ## Quick Start Use $sidebar-prioritizer to reset and prioritize my sidebar with work categories and B7 inactivity markers.

Frequently Asked Questions about sidebar-prioritizer

High-intent search queries and answers about installing and using this skill.

FAQPage Schema
How do I prioritize my Codex sidebar tasks?▼

Run the sidebar-prioritizer in reset mode to inventory all threads, reassess each task against a P0-P4 evidence rubric, and apply new titles and priority sections. Refresh mode updates only categories and B7 age markers while preserving existing priorities.

What does the B7 label mean on a task?▼

B7 marks a task with strictly more than seven elapsed days since substantive activity at the run timestamp. It is an age marker, not an urgency signal, and exactly seven days does not qualify. Title edits and metadata changes do not reset the clock.

Can I audit sidebar changes without applying them?▼

Yes, audit mode prepares the full before/after plan without mutating any titles or sections. The plan output goes to stdout so you can review proposed labels, review flags, and coverage gaps before authorizing changes.

Does the label planner script require external Python packages?▼

No, scripts/plan_labels.py uses only the Python 3.10+ standard library. It validates a private JSON array of task records, enforces the 57-character title limit, and flags unknown or future-dated activity instead of inventing B7 markers.

What happens when task activity history is unavailable?▼

The Skill preserves any existing B7 marker, adds an unknown_activity review flag, and keeps unranked tasks unranked until evidence supports a priority. It never silently marks unclear work as done and reports unavailable sources explicitly.
