What problem does it solve?

This guidance enables teams to create and update self-contained Skill units that extend Codex with a consistent structure, frontmatter-driven metadata, and reusable resources.

Core Features & Use Cases

Establishes a standard Skill layout requiring SKILL.md with name and description frontmatter.
Supports optional resources directories (scripts, references, assets) to house executable logic, documentation, and templates.
Provides tooling (init_skill.py, generate_openai_yaml.py, quick_validate.py) to scaffold, configure UI metadata, and validate Skill structure.
Enables progressive disclosure and modular organization so Codex loads only relevant content as needed.

Quick Start

Initialize a new skill by running scripts/init_skill.py <skill-name> --path <output-directory> and then customize SKILL.md and add any needed resources.
