What problem does it solve?
This skill removes the friction of connecting a user's Slack workspace to the Claude Code assistant and automates common Slack tasks so non-technical users can read channels, post messages, react, and manage users without dealing with commands or config files.
Core Features & Use Cases
- Guides a non-technical user through a conversational Phase 1 to create a Slack app, collect a Bot User OAuth Token, and save a local MCP server configuration so the assistant can act on their behalf.
- Executes Phase 2 actions via mcp__slack__* tools to list channels, read channel history and threads, post messages and replies (with explicit confirmation), add/remove reactions, search users, and manage user groups.
- Includes token rotation and robust error handling for invalid auth, missing scopes, not-in-channel situations, and rate limits; documents limitations such as workspace-wide message search and unreads being unavailable with bot tokens.
Quick Start
Ask the assistant to test my Slack connection and then say "list channels" or "post hello to #announcements".
