FAQPage Schema

How do I upload a lead list to Smartlead as a draft campaign?▼

To upload a lead list to Smartlead as a draft campaign, provide a leads.csv and a variants.yaml file to the script for validation, inbox tagging, and batch uploading. This creates a campaign in a DRAFT state for manual review before activation.

What format does my lead list need to be in for Smartlead campaign upload?▼

Your lead list must be a leads.csv file with a schema validated against allowed columns. You also need a variants.yaml file to define the cold email sequences for the campaign.

How does Smartlead inbox tagging work when uploading leads in batches?▼

Smartlead inbox tagging during batch uploads attaches inboxes to the campaign using an LRU strategy. This ensures efficient processing and even distribution of sending domains across uploaded leads.

Can I set up cold email scheduling without activating the campaign immediately?▼

Yes, the upload process sets draft-only settings and scheduling configurations automatically. The campaign remains safely in a DRAFT state in the Smartlead UI for manual review before you activate it.

Do I need a Smartlead API key to upload leads and create a draft campaign?▼

Yes, you must set the SMARTLEAD_API_KEY environment variable before running the upload script with your leads and variants paths. The API key is required to authenticate the campaign creation and batch lead uploads.
