SYSTEM DOCUMENTATION & REQUIREMENTS

💡 This Skill includes references (resource) components.

What problem does it solve?

This Skill provides a focused blueprint for integrating specialized Zephyr hardware interfaces (LVGL UI, Audio I2S/Codecs, and watchdog-based reliability) for robust embedded applications.

Core Features & Use Cases

LVGL GUI development patterns for Zephyr-based HMIs and displays.
Audio I2S streaming and codec integration with DMA buffering.
System reliability through watchdog configuration, health checks, and fault-injection resilience.
Use Case: Build a touchscreen-enabled instrument panel with audio feedback and automatic recovery after faults.

Quick Start

Enable LVGL and its display/input support in prj.conf (e.g., CONFIG_LVGL=y, CONFIG_LV_Z_POINTER_KSCAN=y).
Enable I2S and AUDIO subsystems (e.g., CONFIG_I2S=y, CONFIG_AUDIO=y, CONFIG_AUDIO_CODEC=y).
Enable the watchdog (CONFIG_WATCHDOG=y) and implement a simple health-check monitor per watchdog guidelines.
Follow the references for concrete code patterns: lvgl_gui.md, audio_i2s.md, watchdog_reliability.md, and fault_injection.md.

Frequently Asked Questions about specialized

High-intent search queries and answers about installing and using this skill.

FAQPage Schema

How do I configure LVGL UI displays with Zephyr for HMI devices?▼

Configure LVGL UI displays in Zephyr by enabling CONFIG_LVGL and CONFIG_LV_Z_POINTER_KSCAN in prj.conf. This provides GUI development patterns for Zephyr-based HMIs, supporting touchscreen inputs and visual feedback for embedded instrument panels.

Can I stream I2S audio with DMA buffering using Zephyr peripherals?▼

Yes, Zephyr peripherals support I2S audio streaming with DMA buffering. Enable CONFIG_I2S and CONFIG_AUDIO in prj.conf to integrate audio codecs, allowing audio-enabled instruments to process streaming data efficiently.

What is fault-injection resilience in Zephyr watchdog configurations?▼

Fault-injection resilience in Zephyr tests system recovery by triggering watchdog timeouts and health-check monitors. It ensures mission-critical Zephyr deployments maintain fault tolerance and automatically recover after hardware or software faults.

How do I set up a Zephyr watchdog health-check monitor for automatic recovery?▼

Set up a Zephyr watchdog health-check monitor by enabling CONFIG_WATCHDOG in prj.conf and implementing a monitor routine following watchdog guidelines. This ensures automatic system recovery after faults in mission-critical embedded deployments.

What's the best way to integrate specialized Zephyr hardware for mission-critical applications?▼

The best way to integrate specialized Zephyr hardware is applying combined patterns for LVGL UI, I2S audio streaming, and watchdog reliability. This satisfies fault-injection resilience workflows required by mission-critical Zephyr deployments.

Why does my Zephyr I2S audio codec integration fail without DMA buffering?▼

Zephyr I2S audio codec integration fails without DMA buffering because streaming strategies require direct memory access to handle continuous audio data flows. Enable CONFIG_I2S, CONFIG_AUDIO, and CONFIG_AUDIO_CODEC to properly support codec integration.
