FAQPage Schema

How do I generate dependency-ordered task lists for software development projects?▼

You can generate dependency-ordered task lists by running this Skill within a Spec-Kit project structure. It automatically creates a tasks.md file that accounts for task dependencies and ensures correct ordering for implementation planning.

What is dependency management in task generation and how does it work?▼

Dependency management in task generation ensures tasks are ordered correctly based on their relationships. This Skill analyzes available design artifacts within a Spec-Kit project and sequences tasks so that prerequisites are resolved before dependent tasks begin.

Do I need a Spec-Kit project structure to automate task generation?▼

Yes, you need an existing Spec-Kit project structure containing a .specify/ directory. The Skill leverages the design artifacts and project information stored there to automatically generate the dependency-ordered task list.

How do I create a tasks.md file from existing design artifacts?▼

To create a tasks.md file, run the Skill in your Spec-Kit project directory. It uses Python scripts to process your available design artifacts and outputs a structured task list suitable for project management and implementation planning.

Does the automated task generation require Python to be installed?▼

Yes, Python is required because the task generation process relies on Python scripts. These scripts analyze the Spec-Kit project structure and generate the dependency-ordered tasks.md file for software development planning.

What's the best way to automate implementation planning for Spec-Kit projects?▼

The best way to automate implementation planning is using this Skill to process Spec-Kit design artifacts. It eliminates manual task sequencing by generating a dependency-ordered tasks.md file, reducing errors and saving development time.
