SYSTEM DOCUMENTATION & REQUIREMENTS

What problem does it solve?

Auto-compaction in long AI sessions often triggers at arbitrary points, cutting off mid-task and losing critical context that disrupts multi-phase work like research, planning, and implementation.

Core Features & Use Cases

Phase-aligned compaction suggestions: Reminds you to compact only at logical workflow boundaries instead of random auto-triggers.
Tool call threshold tracking: Monitors your session's tool usage to alert you when context pressure is building.
Compaction decision guide: Provides a clear reference to help you decide when compacting is safe and beneficial for your current task phase.
Use Case: When working on a feature that requires research, planning, coding, and testing, this skill reminds you to compact after finishing research to keep your implementation plan and free up context for writing code.

Quick Start

Use the strategic-compact skill to receive timely compaction suggestions aligned with your workflow phase transitions during long work sessions.

Frequently Asked Questions about strategic-compact

High-intent search queries and answers about installing and using this skill.

FAQPage Schema

Why does AI context compaction cut off my work mid-task during long sessions?▼

Auto-compaction triggers at arbitrary points, losing critical context. Phase-aligned compaction suggestions solve this by reminding you to compact only at logical workflow boundaries instead of random auto-triggers.

How do I prevent context loss when managing multi-phase AI workflows?▼

You can prevent context loss by triggering manual compaction at phase transition checkpoints. This ensures research, planning, implementation, and debugging stages finish before context is cleared.

When should I manually compact context in an AI assistant session?▼

You should manually compact context when tool call thresholds are reached or at workflow phase transitions. The compaction decision guide helps determine if compacting is safe for your current task stage.

Does tool call tracking help with AI session context preservation?▼

Tool call tracking monitors session tool usage to alert you when context pressure is building. This tracking satisfies context preservation requirements by providing timely manual compaction suggestions.

Can I use context compaction for debugging and implementation workflows?▼

Context compaction applies to multi-phase workflows including research, planning, implementation, and debugging. It triggers suggestions at configurable tool call thresholds and phase transition checkpoints to preserve logical context boundaries.

What are the limitations of auto-compaction in long AI sessions?▼

Auto-compaction triggers arbitrarily, cutting off mid-task and disrupting multi-phase work. You must instead use manual compaction suggestions at configurable tool call thresholds and phase transitions to avoid losing critical context.
