High-intent search queries and answers about installing and using this skill.

FAQPage Schema

How do I structure a scalable Swift application architecture?▼

A scalable Swift application architecture uses a 4-layer structure encompassing Apps, Features, Services, and SDKs. This separation defines specific layer responsibilities and dependency rules to ensure long-term maintainability and efficient development.

What is the best way to organize new features in iOS development?▼

Organizing new features in iOS development requires placing them within the Features layer of a 4-layer Swift architecture. This approach isolates feature logic while defining strict dependencies on underlying Services and SDKs layers for clean separation.

Where should I put business logic in a clean Swift architecture?▼

In a clean Swift architecture, business logic belongs in the Features or Services layers, depending on its scope. The 4-layer system defines strict dependency rules to help you determine the exact placement and prevent architectural violations.

Can I use this 4-layer Swift architecture for macOS development?▼

Yes, this 4-layer Swift architecture applies to both iOS and macOS development. It provides layer responsibilities, code style guidelines, and configuration details that ensure maintainable applications across Apple platforms.

How do I enforce architectural compliance and code style in Swift?▼

To enforce architectural compliance in Swift, apply the dependency rules and code style guidelines defined by the 4-layer architecture. This framework details specific best practices to ensure code adheres to project conventions and layer boundaries.

When should I not use a 4-layer architecture for my Swift app?▼

You should avoid a 4-layer Swift architecture for very small or prototype applications where strict layer responsibilities and dependency rules introduce unnecessary overhead. It is designed for building robust, scalable, and maintainable applications.
