SYSTEM DOCUMENTATION & REQUIREMENTS

💡 This Skill includes scripts (resource) components.

What problem does it solve?

Generating random values is a common need during development to simulate realistic data, speed up testing, and reduce boilerplate.

Core Features & Use Cases

Random integer in a range (int)
Random float in a range (float)
UUID generation (uuid)
Random password generation (password)
Random item selection from a list (choice)

Use case: quickly generate a set of IDs, passwords, or sample items for QA data.

Quick Start

Run the random_util.py CLI to generate the needed value, for example using --int to pick a number in a range, --uuid for a UUID, --password for a password, or --choice for random items from a list.

Frequently Asked Questions about system_random

High-intent search queries and answers about installing and using this skill.

FAQPage Schema

How do I generate random UUIDs and passwords from the command line?▼

Generate random UUIDs and passwords by running the bundled CLI script with the --uuid or --password options. This provides non-cryptographic random strings quickly for testing and data simulation.

How do I pick a random item from a list using a CLI script?▼

Pick a random item from a list by executing the script with the --choice option. The CLI selects and returns a random value from the provided input list for sampling purposes.

Can I generate random integers and floats within a specific range?▼

Generate random integers and floats by passing the --int or --float options to the CLI. The script returns a random number confined to the specified range bounds.

What is the best way to quickly create QA test data like sample IDs and passwords?▼

Quickly create QA test data by using the CLI script to generate UUIDs, non-cryptographic passwords, and random list selections, reducing boilerplate during development.

Does this random value generator require any external dependencies?▼

The random value generator requires no external dependencies. It relies solely on the bundled random_util.py script to execute integer, float, UUID, password, and choice generation.

When should I avoid using the generated passwords from this script?▼

Avoid using the generated passwords for security-sensitive authentication, as the script explicitly produces non-cryptographic passwords intended only for test data and development simulation.
