SYSTEM DOCUMENTATION & REQUIREMENTS

What problem does it solve?

Type-safe routing guidance for React applications with TanStack Router to enforce consistent navigation patterns and reduce route-related errors.

Core Features & Use Cases

File-Based Routing: auto-generated routes from the project file structure for scalable apps.
Type Safety: full TypeScript inference for params, search, and nested routes.
Data Loading & Lazy Loading: built-in loaders and automatic code-splitting for performance.
Nested Routes & Dynamic Segments: support for dynamic parameters and nested layouts.
Navigation & Search Params: type-safe navigation and query parameter handling.

Quick Start

Create a new React project and implement TanStack Router with a file-based route structure to enable type-safe navigation.

FAQPage Schema

How do I set up file-based routing with type-safe params in a React application?▼

File-based routing in React auto-generates routes from the project file structure, enabling full TypeScript inference for dynamic segments and nested layouts. You create a file structure that TanStack Router processes to establish type-safe navigation automatically.

What is the best way to handle data loading and code splitting in React routes?▼

The best way to handle data loading and code splitting in React routes is using built-in route loaders. These loaders fetch data automatically while the router splits code for performance, ensuring efficient lazy loading for nested route components.

Can I enforce type-safe navigation and search params with React Router?▼

Yes, you can enforce type-safe navigation and search params using TanStack Router. It provides full TypeScript inference for query parameters and navigation paths, preventing route-related errors and ensuring consistent navigation patterns across the application.

Does TanStack Router support nested routes with dynamic segments and error handling?▼

TanStack Router supports nested routes with dynamic parameters, built-in error handling, and loading states. It allows you to define nested layouts that render child components while managing route errors and displaying loading UI during data fetching.

Why should I use a type-safe React router over standard routing approaches?▼

A type-safe React router enforces consistent navigation patterns and reduces route-related errors by providing full TypeScript inference. Unlike standard routing, it validates params, search queries, and nested paths at compile time, preventing runtime navigation failures.
