FAQPage Schema

How do I test EF Core repositories against PostgreSQL without spinning up the entire Web API?▼

EF Core repository testing without a full Web API uses Testcontainers to spin up an isolated PostgreSQL database, apply migrations manually, and run targeted data access tests for faster feedback.

What is the best way to validate SQL query correctness in isolated integration tests?▼

SQL query validation in isolated integration tests runs repository methods against a Testcontainers PostgreSQL instance, applying deterministic migrations to verify query correctness and assertion-driven data access behaviors.

How do I verify concurrency handling in EF Core during database testing?▼

Concurrency testing in EF Core validates data access handling by running repository tests across multiple service scopes against an isolated PostgreSQL Testcontainers setup, ensuring deterministic assertion-driven verification.

Do I need Testcontainers to run isolated EF Core integration tests?▼

Testcontainers is required for isolated EF Core integration testing to provision a temporary PostgreSQL database, apply migrations, and run repository tests without relying on shared external database environments.

Can I apply database migrations manually during integration testing?▼

Manual migrations in integration testing apply deterministic schema updates directly to the PostgreSQL Testcontainers database before running repository tests, ensuring isolated and controlled data access validation.

Why use Testcontainers instead of an in-memory database for EF Core testing?▼

Testcontainers provides an isolated PostgreSQL database for EF Core testing instead of an in-memory database, ensuring SQL query correctness, concurrency handling, and migration validation match production environments.
