think-academic
CommunityFour rigorous academic reasoning methods.
System Documentation
What problem does it solve?
Academic reasoning tasks like literature review, argument construction, and critical evaluation require coordinating multiple sources, structuring logic, and surfacing assumptions. This Skill provides four methods—Synthesis, Argumentation, Critique, and Analysis—to help users reason more clearly, transparently, and defensibly across research contexts.
Core Features & Use Cases
- Synthesis: integrate insights from multiple sources, map convergence and divergence, and track coverage and gaps.
- Argumentation: construct explicit Toulmin structures (claim, grounds, warrant, backing, qualifier, rebuttal) to build robust positions.
- Critique: perform balanced peer-review style evaluation with strengths, weaknesses, and Socratic questions.
- Analysis: apply layered decomposition and coverage tracking to break down complex problems and document reasoning traces. Use cases include literature reviews, thesis development, and rigorous evaluation of ideas.
Quick Start
Provide a synthesis of at least three sources on a research question and present a structured argument using Toulmin components (claim, grounds, warrant, backing, qualifier, and rebuttal).
