What problem does it solve?
tmux pane layouts are difficult to map to screen coordinates and detect layout changes across panes. This skill provides tooling to query pane geometry, convert cell coordinates to pixel measurements, and monitor layout changes over time.
Core Features & Use Cases
- Query pane geometry with tmux list-panes and parse into a structured form.
- Convert cell coordinates to screen pixels using TIOCGWINSZ ioctl with fallbacks to CSI 16t, including retina-aware scaling and terminal insets handling.
- Track pane changes via diff events (Added, Moved, Resized, Removed) and support push-based updates via hooks.
- Use in overlay-style applications to position UI elements relative to the terminal grid.
Quick Start
Run the tmux-pane-geometry workflow to query current pane geometry and compute pixel-based overlay positions.
