SYSTEM DOCUMENTATION & REQUIREMENTS

💡 This Skill requires tmux, and includes scripts (resource) components.

What problem does it solve?

Remote-control tmux sessions for interactive CLIs by sending keystrokes and scraping pane output to enable automation and auditing of terminal workflows.

Core Features & Use Cases

Remote keystroke control: send keys to a running tmux session to interact with terminal-based apps.
Pane output capture: fetch and process pane content for monitoring, logging, and decision making.
Session orchestration: manage multiple tmux sessions and windows from a single source to support complex, multi-session workflows.

Quick Start

Create a private tmux socket, start a named session, and begin sending commands while capturing pane output.

Frequently Asked Questions about tmux

High-intent search queries and answers about installing and using this skill.

FAQPage Schema

How do I automate tmux session control and capture pane output?▼

Automate tmux session control by sending keystrokes to running sessions and scraping pane output. This enables automated interaction with terminal-based apps for monitoring and logging workflows on macOS and Linux.

Can I manage multiple tmux sessions remotely from a single source?▼

Yes, manage multiple tmux sessions remotely from a single source. This session orchestration supports complex multi-session workflows by sending keystrokes and capturing output across different windows.

Does this tmux automation approach work on both macOS and Linux?▼

Yes, tmux automation works across Darwin and Linux environments. It requires tmux installed on the system and uses a private socket to isolate sessions for safe interactive CLI control.

What is the best way to interact with running terminal apps in tmux for debugging?▼

The best way to interact with running terminal apps for debugging is remote keystroke control via a private tmux socket. This isolates sessions while allowing you to send commands and scrape pane output.

Do I need tmux installed to use remote session orchestration?▼

Yes, you need tmux installed to use remote session orchestration. The automation relies on a private socket for session isolation and requires a Darwin or Linux environment to function.

Why use a private socket for tmux session isolation during automation?▼

Use a private socket for tmux session isolation to separate automated workflows from other terminal processes. This ensures remote keystroke control and pane output scraping operate securely without interfering with existing sessions.
