SYSTEM DOCUMENTATION & REQUIREMENTS

What problem does it solve?

Vendor risk assessment requires structured scoring across inherent and residual factors to drive decisions, reducing blind spots in supplier selections and ongoing monitoring.

Core Features & Use Cases

Risk Scoring: Calculate inherent and residual risk scores for vendors.
Rating Assignment: Produce risk ratings (Critical/High/Medium/Low) and trend analyses.
Peer Comparison: Benchmark vendors within same category to identify outliers.
Use Case: Onboard a new supplier by generating a baseline risk score and recommended mitigations.

Quick Start

Run the tprm-scorer on a vendor profile to generate an initial risk score and recommended mitigations.

FAQPage Schema

How do I calculate inherent and residual risk scores for vendor risk management?▼

Vendor risk scoring computes inherent and residual risk scores by evaluating supplier profiles. It generates baseline scores, assigns Critical/High/Medium/Low ratings, and recommends mitigations to reduce blind spots during supplier onboarding and continuous monitoring.

What is the best way to benchmark vendors and identify supplier risk outliers?▼

Peer comparison benchmarks vendors within the same category to identify supplier risk outliers. This trend analysis approach highlights deviations in risk ratings across suppliers, enabling targeted continuous monitoring and consistent vendor risk assessment.

When do I need to generate a baseline risk score during supplier onboarding?▼

You need baseline risk scoring during supplier onboarding to establish initial inherent and residual risk profiles. Generating a baseline score with recommended mitigations ensures structured vendor selection and prevents blind spots in continuous vendor monitoring workflows.

Can I use vendor risk ratings for continuous monitoring across different industries?▼

Yes, vendor risk ratings apply to continuous monitoring across industries. The scoring mechanism calculates inherent and residual risks universally, supporting trend analysis and rating assignment regardless of the specific supplier category or sector.

What is the difference between inherent and residual risk scores in vendor monitoring?▼

Inherent risk scores evaluate a vendor's baseline threat level before controls, while residual risk scores measure the remaining risk after mitigations. Both are calculated to assign risk ratings and drive actionable recommendations during continuous monitoring.
