FAQPage Schema

How do I implement focus-based navigation for a tvOS app interface?▼

Focus-based navigation for tvOS apps is implemented by applying specific design rules that ensure safe, predictable interaction using the Siri Remote. It requires defining clear focus states and parallax effects to communicate depth and accessibility across the 10-foot UI.

What are the Apple TV design guidelines for typography and legibility at a 10-foot viewing distance?▼

Apple TV typography guidelines for 10-foot viewing distances ensure legibility by enforcing strict contrast rules and layout simplicity. These constraints guarantee that text remains readable and accessible for living room media playback experiences.

Can I use standard tab bar behavior and safe areas for my Apple TV app layout?▼

Standard tab bar behavior and safe areas are fully supported for Apple TV app layouts. The tvOS design guidelines define how to structure these elements to maintain focus-driven navigation and ensure interfaces remain predictable within the 10-foot UI.

What is the best way to design a dynamic Top Shelf integration for tvOS?▼

The best way to design a dynamic Top Shelf integration for tvOS is to follow Apple HIG conventions for media playback. This involves configuring focusable posters and simple navigation elements to create a consistent living room user experience.

Why does my Siri Remote input require specific focus states in tvOS design?▼

Siri Remote input requires specific focus states in tvOS design to communicate depth and accessibility effectively. Without distinct parallax and focus states, remote-friendly interactions become unpredictable and fail to meet 10-foot UI accessibility standards.
