FAQPage Schema

How do I send WhatsApp messages from the command line?▼

You can search WhatsApp chat history via CLI by executing specific search commands after completing the initial QR-based login and history sync. This locates past conversations and backfills data locally without needing to open or interact with the phone app UI.

Can I sync WhatsApp chat history without opening the phone app?▼

To set up CLI WhatsApp messaging, you must complete a QR-based authentication process for login and perform an initial history sync. This local configuration and guardrail setup is required before issuing any commands to send messages or search past chats.

Does the WhatsApp CLI prompt for recipient confirmation before sending?▼

Yes, the WhatsApp CLI includes a safety guardrail that explicitly prompts for both the recipient and the message content before sending. This prevents accidental messages to individual chats or groups during command-line operations.

What is the best way to backfill WhatsApp group chats locally?▼

The best way to backfill WhatsApp group chats locally is by running CLI history search and sync commands after QR authentication. This retrieves and stores conversation data on your local system, bypassing the phone app UI entirely.
