SYSTEM DOCUMENTATION & REQUIREMENTS

💡 This Skill includes references (resource) components.

What problem does it solve?

This Skill identifies critical components within a Wardley Map that, if they fail, would have a significant impact on the overall system, helping to prioritize risk mitigation efforts.

Core Features & Use Cases

Fan-in Analysis: Calculates how many other components depend on a given component.
Blast Radius Assessment: Determines the scope of impact if a bottleneck component fails.
Contextual Risk Evaluation: Integrates evolution stage, supply chain, and strategic plays to assess bottleneck risk.
Use Case: After creating a Wardley Map for your organization's core services, use this Skill to pinpoint which services are most critical and would cause the most disruption if they went offline.

Quick Start

Generate a bottleneck analysis map for the current project using the provided strategy map and supply chain data.

Frequently Asked Questions about wm-atlas-bottlenecks

High-intent search queries and answers about installing and using this skill.

FAQPage Schema

How do I identify critical bottlenecks in a Wardley Map?▼

Bottleneck analysis identifies components with high fan-in to assess their blast radius and failure impact. By evaluating evolution stages, supply chain data, and strategy plays, it highlights components whose failure would cause the most disruption.

What is fan-in analysis in strategic dependency mapping?▼

Fan-in analysis calculates how many other components depend on a given component within your strategy map. It identifies critical services that act as bottlenecks so you can prioritize risk mitigation efforts.

How do I assess the blast radius of a component failure?▼

Blast radius assessment determines the scope of impact if a bottleneck component fails. It integrates evolution assessments and supply chain data to evaluate contextual risk and potential disruption.

Do I need Node.js to generate a bottleneck analysis map?▼

Yes, you need Node.js for OWM rendering via cli-owm to generate the bottleneck analysis map. This setup allows the Skill to process your strategy map and supply chain data.

When should I use bottleneck analysis for strategic planning?▼

Use bottleneck analysis after creating a Wardley Map for your organization's core services. It is ideal when you need to pinpoint which services are most critical and would cause the most disruption.
