What problem does it solve?
This Skill helps you understand how a piece of writing persuades by identifying its rhetorical situation, the gap between explicit claims and hidden premises, and the loaded language that carries ideological weight.
Core Features & Use Cases
- Rhetorical Situation Mapping: Breaks down speaker, audience, purpose, and context to reveal what the text is trying to do in its real-world setting.
- Explicit Argument vs. Buried Frame: Distinguishes what the text says from what it assumes for the argument to work, including what categories and absences are normalized.
- Appeals & Language Audit: Maps logos, ethos, and pathos and flags loaded wording (e.g., “common sense,” “simply,” “our values”) to show where persuasion substitutes for reasoning.
- Verdict on Rhetorical Honesty: Evaluates whether rhetorical moves are proportional to the stated argument or function as substitution/manipulation.
