SYSTEM DOCUMENTATION & REQUIREMENTS

💡 This Skill includes scripts (resource) and references (resource) components.

What problem does it solve?

This skill addresses slow compilation times, excessive type-checking warnings, and long build phases in Swift and mixed-language projects by identifying specific code-level and configuration bottlenecks.

Core Features & Use Cases

Diagnostic Analysis: Parses build timing summaries and compiler diagnostics to rank the most expensive functions and expressions.
Optimization Planning: Provides actionable, evidence-based recommendations to reduce compiler workload and improve parallel build efficiency.
Use Case: When a developer faces long CompileSwiftSources tasks or slow incremental builds, this skill analyzes the build logs to pinpoint whether the issue stems from complex type-checking, monolithic modules, or inefficient bridging headers.

Quick Start

Use the xcode-compilation-analyzer skill to diagnose the current project by running the compilation diagnostics script with a 100ms threshold.

Frequently Asked Questions about xcode-compilation-analyzer

High-intent search queries and answers about installing and using this skill.

FAQPage Schema

How do I diagnose slow Swift compilation times in Xcode?▼

To diagnose slow Swift compilation, parse build timing summaries and compiler diagnostics to rank the most expensive functions. This identifies bottlenecks in type-checking and module emission to generate source-level optimization plans.

Why does my Xcode incremental build take so long?▼

Long incremental builds often stem from complex type-checking, monolithic modules, or inefficient bridging headers. Analyzing build logs pinpoints these specific code-level bottlenecks to reduce overall compiler workload.

What is the best way to optimize Xcode build performance?▼

The best way to optimize Xcode build performance is analyzing compilation hotspots to generate evidence-based recommendations. This reduces compiler workload and improves parallel build efficiency for slow clean builds.

Do I need xcodebuild command-line tools to analyze compilation hotspots?▼

Yes, analyzing compilation hotspots requires xcodebuild command-line tools and access to project build logs or timing summaries. These inputs perform root-cause analysis for excessive type-checking durations.

Can this analyzer handle mixed-language compilation bottlenecks?▼

Yes, it handles mixed-language compilation bottlenecks by analyzing slow CompileSwiftSources tasks and inefficient bridging headers. It provides project-level optimization plans for mixed-language projects experiencing long build phases.
