SYSTEM DOCUMENTATION & REQUIREMENTS

💡 This Skill requires yt-dlp, openai-whisper.

What problem does it solve?

Manually transcribing YouTube videos is time-consuming and tedious. This skill automates the process, providing quick access to video content in text format for analysis, note-taking, or content repurposing.

Core Features & Use Cases

  • Automated Transcription: Downloads existing subtitles (manual or auto-generated) or transcribes audio using Whisper as a fallback.
  • Plain Text Conversion: Cleans and deduplicates VTT files into readable plain text, removing timestamps and formatting.
  • Use Case: Quickly get the full text of a lecture, tutorial, or interview video for detailed analysis, summarization, or accessibility without watching the entire video.

Quick Start

Download the transcript for the YouTube video at 'https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQw4w9WgXcQ' and save it as plain text.
