SYSTEM DOCUMENTATION & REQUIREMENTS

What problem does it solve?

This skill eliminates the guesswork in evaluating open-source dependencies and tools by providing a standardized, data-driven framework for analyzing repository health, activity, and suitability for the ZES ecosystem.

Core Features & Use Cases

Deep Repo Analysis: Instantly retrieve star counts, commit velocity, contributor diversity, and dependency graphs to assess project viability.
Project Health Scoring: Apply a structured matrix to compare maintenance levels, release cadence, and issue resolution speed across multiple alternatives.
Use Case: When deciding between two competing agent frameworks, use this skill to generate a side-by-side comparison of their maintenance activity and community support to determine which is the better fit for ZES.

Quick Start

Use the ZES-github-research skill to analyze the repository owner/repo and generate a health report.

Frequently Asked Questions about ZES-github-research

High-intent search queries and answers about installing and using this skill.

FAQPage Schema

How do I evaluate open-source dependencies for project integration?▼

Evaluating open-source dependencies requires analyzing GitHub repository health metrics like commit velocity, contributor diversity, and issue resolution speed. This skill retrieves authenticated API data to generate a structured matrix comparing maintenance levels and release cadence across multiple alternatives.

What GitHub metrics indicate a repository is safe to use as a dependency?▼

Repository health indicators include star counts, commit velocity, contributor diversity, and dependency graphs. Analyzing these maintenance and community engagement metrics provides a data-driven framework to assess technical stability and project viability before integration.

Do I need a GitHub PAT to analyze repository health and activity?▼

Yes, authenticated GitHub API access via a Personal Access Token (PAT) is required. This authentication allows the deep data retrieval and dependency graph analysis necessary to evaluate repository maintenance and community engagement accurately.

How can I compare two competing open-source frameworks for my project?▼

Comparing competing frameworks requires a side-by-side analysis of their maintenance activity and community support. This skill generates a structured project health scoring matrix evaluating release cadence and issue resolution speed to determine the better fit for your ecosystem.

What is the best way to analyze GitHub release cadence and issue resolution speed?▼

The best way to analyze release cadence and issue resolution speed is by applying a standardized, data-driven framework to the repository's API data. This approach evaluates maintenance levels and technical stability to facilitate informed dependency decisions.

Why does analyzing GitHub dependency graphs require authenticated API access?▼

Analyzing dependency graphs requires authenticated API access to perform deep data retrieval. Using a PAT bypasses rate limits and exposes the detailed maintenance and technical stability data needed for accurate project health scoring.
