FAQPage Schema

How do I plan weekly work cycles and manage team capacity in Linear?▼

Plan weekly work cycles in Linear by scheduling issues into cycles, managing team capacity budgets, and prioritizing backlogs based on defined rules. This ensures teams operate within capacity limits while addressing critical items first.

What is backlog prioritization and how does it work for development cycles?▼

Backlog prioritization for development cycles systematically ranks issues using defined prioritization rules to determine execution order. It ensures the most critical tasks are scheduled into Linear cycles before lower-priority items.

How do I check estimation quality for Linear issues before scheduling them?▼

Check estimation quality for Linear issues by reviewing issue estimates against defined quality checks before cycle scheduling. This validates that issue estimations are accurate enough to fit within the team's weekly capacity budget.

Can I automatically generate a prioritized task list for an upcoming development cycle?▼

Generate a prioritized task list for an upcoming development cycle by applying prioritization rules and capacity budgets to the backlog. The output is an optimized set of Linear issues scheduled into the weekly cycle.

Does this approach to cycle management work without setting capacity budgets?▼

Cycle management relies on defined capacity budgets to ensure teams operate within limits. Without setting capacity budgets, the system cannot validate whether scheduled Linear issues exceed the team's weekly availability.
